What defiles; what sanctifies

This post doesn't compare English scripture to Spanish.

Today I was thinking about this scripture:

 15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him canadefile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that bdefile the man.
 whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
 19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
 20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that adefileth the man.
 21 For from within, out of the aheart of men, proceed evil thoughts,badulteries, fornications, murders,
 22 aTheftsbcovetousnesscwickednessddeceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
 23 All these aevil things come from within, and bdefile the man.
The thought came to me today as I worked in the temple that just as the scripture says it is what comes out of a man that defiles him, by the same token the opposite must be true. If purity and holiness come out of a man, that must purify and sanctify him.
As we fill our hearts, minds, and mouths with pure doctrine or the pure word of God, we are cleansed and sanctified and become more pure.
What a great reason to increase our study and speaking of the things that enlighten and uplift.

  1. Since thinking of this, it comes more and more to mind. I believe this is the reason we must speak out loud to agree to covenants; it is the reason we are admonished to pray vocally, why the young women have a theme that they must repeat together each week, and also why we sing so many hymns in our meetings.

  2. And now I found a scriptures that says it all: Her mouth speaks from that which fills her heart. Luke 6:45
